Curriculum Highlights

At Brompton-on-Swale CE Primary School, we ensure that we provide a broad and balanced curriculum that not just meets but exceeds the expectations of the National Curriculum. 

However, there are some subjects that we consider to be real strengths of our curriculum offer.  These are:

Mathematics

Maths teaching is really strong throughout the school and uses a mastery approach to learning.  This subject is led by a 'Mastery Specialist' who works closely with our local Maths Hub - nationally recognised organisations who provide support and direction to other schools.

French

All our French teaching is taught by the wonderful Madame Guckel who is a languages specialist and teaches each class every week.  The government expects all Key Stage 2 children to be taught a modern foreign language.  At our school, even reception pupils have regular French lessons!  By the time our pupils leave Year 6, they are really well-prepared for secondary education.

Physical Education

PE and School Sport has always been a strength of this school for many years - well before we received additional funding via the Sport Premium!  Our school has a really well thought out curriculum, which is delivered expertly by our staff alongside an exceptional sports coach who knows our children very well.  Pupils receive a raft of opportunities to take part in inter-school competitions and festivals and as a result of all this provision, PE is one of the most popular subjects at Brompton-on-Swale CE Primary!

Science

We love science at Brompton!  The curriculum is exciting, dynamic and is really popular with our pupils!  Whole federation science and STEM days enhance the subject even further.
