For Parents and Carers

Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

A very warm welcome to Brompton-on-Swale PTA (Parent Teacher Association). Brompton-on-Swale PTA is a huge part of our school, and we are always looking for new parents to get involved.

This can be on the committee and attending meetings or just giving us a helping hand at fundraising events.  It is important to us as a committee, that we have this support as we want to raise as much money as possible for the school.  By doing this the children will benefit.

Why do we have Brompton-on-Swale PTA?

Brompton-on-Swale PTA has been an integral part of the school for many years and has raised thousands of pounds to help enhance the children’s education throughout various events over the school year. Apart from fundraising, Brompton-on-Swale PTA provides closer links between home and school. It brings staff, parents and friends of the school together when working towards a common goal.

Brompton-on-Swale PTA is extremely conscious of the ethos and diversity of our school; we try very hard when organising and planning events to respect this.

How we raise money

As in most schools, the majority of our funds are raised through the events that we run throughout the academic year, for example, we hold a termly disco and a Christmas and Summer Fair.  At the Summer Fair we have a ‘Silent Auction’, this is always extremely successful and raises a significant amount of money towards the final total.  We then look into doing a few other events throughout the year.  In previous years this has included event such as pamper nights, pig racing evenings and collection buckets.  These sorts of events change from year to year.

How we spend the money raised

During our Brompton-on-Swale PTA committee meetings we discuss and make decisions on how the money should be spent.  We also take the time to speak to Mr Firmin and all the other staff for their ideas.  Most importantly, we ask the children for their ideas and how it should be spent; we find that this really motivates them into raising money at these events.

We also use the money for resources to improve a particular area of the curriculum or school environment.  We help to fund school trips for the children so that we support their learning in a particular topic.

We always endeavour to spend our funds in ways that will benefit all the children across all areas of the school curriculum.  Many of the resources purchased have a direct link to the School Improvement Plan.

How to get involved

If you are interested in joining the PTA, either on the committee or just volunteering, please email the school office admin@bromptonschool.net for the attention of Miss Guy and she will then get in contact with you.
